Wines made from Corinto Nero grapes of Salina
Discover the best wines made with Corinto Nero as a single variety or as a blend of Salina.
Small, intensely coloured seedless grapes, mainly destined for raisin production. More rarely vinified into confidential sweet and liqueur wines from the Aeolian Islands, with a dark colour, luscious palate and aromas of candied black fruit, raisins and spices. Grown in the Cyclades (island of Lipari) and southern Italy. A seedless mutation of the Corinth raisin, an ancient Greek black variety.
IGT covering the volcanic Aeolian archipelago north-east of Sicily (Salina island at its heart). Malvasia delle Lipari is the signature indigenous white — historically as an enchanting passito (≥18°) with intense notes of apricot, honey, candied citrus and dried fruit, now also in a dry and mineral version with citrus, herbs and a saline-volcanic touch. Corinto Nero, Catarratto, Inzolia and Nerello Cappuccio as complementary varieties.
