Whites with many faces: mineral and taut at Chablis (lemon, green apple, flint), opulent and buttery at Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet (hazelnut, brioche, yellow fruits), tense and chalky in Champagne (Blanc de Blancs). Also vinified sparkling and widely exported (Sonoma, Margaret River, Casablanca). A Burgundian variety, a cross of Pinot Noir × Gouais Blanc, half-sibling of Aligoté.
Argentine wine valley of San Juan (700-800 m at the foot of the Andes, hot dry climate swept by the Zonda wind). Syrah signature in a full-bodied, sunny red with intense notes of blackberry, black cherry, candied plum, black pepper, sweet spice and a balsamic-Mediterranean touch, round tannins and vibrant fruit. Malbec ample and concentrated with black fruits. Chardonnay and Viognier in fresh whites with stone fruits and white flowers.
