The wine region of Bottelary is located in the region of Stellenbosch of Western Cape of South Africa. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine The Ahrens Family or the Domaine The Ahrens Family produce mainly wines red and white. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Bottelary are Cabernet-Sauvignon, Chenin blanc and Pinotage, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Bottelary often reveals types of flavors of non oak, earth or microbio and sometimes also flavors of oak, spices or red fruit.
In the mouth of Bottelary is a powerful with a nice freshness. We currently count 3 estates and châteaux in the of Bottelary, producing 5 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Bottelary go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or spicy food.
Clotilde Davenne, from the eponymous estate, mentions the cherry as a main characteristic of the Irancy appellation.
