Discover the grape variety: Aubin
Aubin is a grape variety commonly found in the vineyards of Lorraine. Rozérieulles, Bruley or Buligny have a few plantations of it. The green variety of this grape variety is one of the 16 grape varieties resulting from a cross between pinot noir and gouais blanc. Aubin, a white grape variety, is not to be confused with another black grape plant, aubun. The green white or white Euvezin, as it is still called, is of satisfactory vigour but its productivity is widely variable. The plant can be recognized by its small bunches. Sometimes winged, they are rather loose and cylindrical in shape, and contain small berries that promise medium-quality vinification. The juice is often associated with other grape varieties. Partial abortion of the berries is common with Aubin. It is also necessary to do what is necessary to preserve this endangered grape variety from oidosis.

The wine region of Champagne
Champagne is the name of the world's most famous Sparkling wine, the appellation under which it is sold and the French wine region from which it comes. Although it has been used to refer to sparkling wines around the world - a point of controversy and legal wrangling in recent decades - Champagne is a legally controlled and restricted name. See the labels of Champagne wines. The fame and success of Champagne is, of course, the product of many Complex factors.

Best new Cognacs and Armagnacs: Eight to try
Any discussion of the relative merits of Cognac and Armagnac can all too easily descend into trite generalisations. Cognac is invariably described as ‘refined’ and ‘elegant’, Armagnac as ‘rustic’ and ‘earthy’. Luckily for us, the truth is altogether less reductive, and more interesting to explore. There are obvious contrasts between these two great French spirits that transcend mere geography, encompassing history, culture, terroir, grape variety, distillation and maturation. But there are commo ...
English vineyard with Pinot Noir goes on sale at £1.3m
English vineyard Cobble Hill, near to the north Norfolk coast, has been listed for sale by estate agency Knight Frank, which said it is seeking offers in excess of £1.3m ($1.58m). Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Bacchus grape varieties are planted at the 3.6-hectare (ha) vineyard (nine acres), which has chalky soils reminiscent of France’s Champagne region, according to Knight Frank. A key part of the deal is an additional 19.4 hectares (48 acres) of land that is considered suitable for vineyards, ...
The word of the wine: Thermoregulation
Control of the vinification temperatures (by circulating hot or cold water on the walls of the vats, for example). This is a major step forward, which in particular helps to preserve the freshness of the aromas threatened by excessive temperature rises during fermentation.
