The wine region of Alsace Grand Cru 'Marckrain'
Grand Cru of Bennwihr and Sigolsheim in Haut-Rhin (53. 35 ha at 200–300 m, south of Bennwihr, Oligocene coastal conglomerate of marly limestone with oolitic calcite gravel and interstratified marls, east-south-east aspect, Colmar microclimate). Gewurztraminer dominates as the flagship white — powerful and full-bodied with complex, harmonious and opulent aromas. Pinot Gris with fine fruity character, Riesling and Muscat as distinguished complements on limestone.
