Discover the grape variety: Ravat

Simple and fruity whites with a pale golden colour, a supple palate with moderate acidity and understated aromas of white fruits and hybrid notes. Productive and disease resistant. Grown in negligible quantities in France and Canada (Quebec) for continental-climate vineyards, bearing witness to the history of post-phylloxera French hybridization. Family of French hybrid varieties obtained by Jean-François Ravat in the early 20th century.

The wine region of Trinity County

Mountainous county of northwestern California (vineyards at 365–760 m on remote alpine terrain, varied soils: alluvial loam, shale, limestone pockets and decomposed granite, marked diurnal swings from cold mountain air): Pinot Noir as cool-climate red king — restrained alpine-fresh profile with preserved acidity. Elegant Chardonnay and Riesling as whites, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon as artisanal complements.

The wine region of California

Powerful, sunny reds: dense Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (blackcurrant, chocolate, tobacco, ample tannins), spicy, jammy Zinfandel from the Sierra Foothills, silky red-fruited Pinot Noir on the cool coast (Sonoma, Russian River, Central Coast). Opulent, buttery Chardonnay, notes of yellow fruit and vanilla. Varied climate, from the hot interior to the Pacific-cooled coast. 80% of US production, 139 AVAs including Napa (1st AVA, 1981).
