The wine region of Kvareli
Flagship appellation of Kakheti in the far north-east of the Alazani valley at the foot of the Greater Caucasus, alluvial-clay soils, cool microclimate. Saperavi is the exclusive autochthonous teinturier red: dense near-black colour, full-bodied and velvety with blackberry, plum, black cherry, spice and a balsamic touch, firm tannins, harmonious acidity, superb ageing. Birthplace of Kindzmarauli; neighbour of dry Mukuzani (3-year ageing).
The wine region of Kakheti
Cradle of amber and orange wines, vinified in qvevri (buried clay jars, UNESCO). Skin-macerated Rkatsiteli whites: signature notes of dried apricot, walnut, honey, orange peel and black tea, fine tannins and controlled oxidation. Deep, tinctorial Saperavi reds with black fruit, plum, spice and firm tannins, age-worthy. Also Mtsvane and Kisi in white, fresh and floral.
