Fine ageing potential. Confirmed star of great Californian (Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles) and Australian reds. American synonym for French durif, a hybrid created in 1880 by François Durif (syrah × peloursin).

DAC Schilcherland in western Austrian Styria (350-550 m, gneiss and slate soils): indigenous Blauer Wildbacher signature exclusive rose (~406 ha) under the name Schilcher — pale crimson rose, vibrant acidity and exceptional freshness, playful aromas of red berries (cherry, redcurrant), herbaceous notes of nettle, thyme and rosemary, rustic and nervous expression. Vinified still and frizzante, sometimes also as a dry aperitif, unique signature in Europe.
