WO district of Cape South Coast (Breede River Valley, town founded 1743, wards Buffeljags and Stormsvlei, porous draining sandy sandstone soils with low fertility, Mediterranean with summers tempered by the Langeberg mountains): Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon as signature reds — intense profiles with pure fruit and vibrant acidity from slow ripening. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc as whites; Touriga Nacional, Mourvèdre and Viognier as complements.
