Communal denomination (Tautavel and Vingrau, northern Pyrénées-Orientales) within Roussillon Villages. A minimum of 3 varieties required — Grenache Noir as signature, Syrah and Mourvèdre together ≥30 %, Carignan capped at 60 %, Lladoner Pelut as complement. Powerful, complex and persistent tannins with notes of ripe fruits, Mediterranean garrigue and spices. Clay-limestone soils on the Fenouillèdes syncline with Aptian-Albian schists and sandstone banks — assertive ageing wines.

The wine region of Languedoc-Roussillon

Largest single French vineyard, dominated by sunny, generous reds. Spicy Syrah, candied Grenache (ripe fruit, garrigue), structured Carignan, deep Mourvèdre, supple Cinsault. Stars: structured Corbières, Minervois, Faugères, Saint-Chinian; round Côtes-du-Roussillon. Legendary vins doux naturels: Banyuls and Maury (fortified Grenache) with notes of cocoa, fig, prune.

The word of the wine: Courgée

Name of the fruiting branch left after pruning and which is then arched along the trellis in the Jura (in the Mâconnais, it is called the tail).
