The wine region of Stetten (Franken)

Emblematic wine village of Franconia 20 km north of Würzburg on the Main, famous for the Stettener Stein (VDP Grosse Lage), Muschelkalk limestone slopes reaching 80%, shallow warming soils. Silvaner is the signature white: dry and mineral with citrus, stone fruits, white flowers, fresh herbs and a deep stony note, finesse and ageing potential. Riesling Grosses Gewächs taut and elegant with ripe citrus and cutting minerality.

The wine region of Franken

Homeland of German Silvaner: dry, straight, mineral and lively whites with notes of green apple, citrus, fresh herbs and a saline touch, planted here for over 350 years (1,500 ha, a quarter of the vineyard). Also supple, floral Müller-Thurgau, taut Riesling, aromatic Bacchus. Some discreet reds (Spätburgunder). 6,040 ha in Bavaria along the Main around Würzburg, red sandstone and shell-limestone soils.

The word of the wine: Burned

Qualifier, sometimes equivocal, of various odors, ranging from caramel to burnt wood.
