The wine region of Granja-Amareleja

Second smallest sub-region of Alentejo DOC (410 ha between Moura and Mourão on the left bank of the Guadiana, among Portugal's most arid lands, mostly ungrafted vines). Native Moreto leads in concentrated, powerful reds with high alcohol from extreme dry viticulture. Trincadeira, Aragonez, Castelão and Alicante Bouschet as structured complementary reds, identity of the Granja-Amareleja cooperative.

The wine region of Alentejano

Star of southern Portugal's great reds, sunny and opulent wines. Typical blends: round fruity Aragonez (Tempranillo), spicy Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional (black fruits, violet), deep teinturier Alicante Bouschet, juicy Castelão. Fleshy reds with notes of plum, black cherry, cocoa and sweet spices, melted tannins. Ample fresh Antão Vaz and Arinto whites.

The word of the wine: Ovoids (tanks)

Egg-shaped vats used for wine making and maturing that favour the natural suspension of the lees thanks to the vortex movements, which give the wine more fat and fruity aromas.
