The wine region of Mount Lofty Ranges

The Mount Lofty Ranges is a wine zone in SouthAustralia encompassing the wine regions of Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and Adelaide Plains. It is named after the range of mountains to the east of the city of Adelaide. In line with South Australia's other winegrowing areas, conditions within the zone are strongly influenced by variations in topography, including altitude, proximity to the coast and a wide array of soil types. As a result, the three Mount Lofty regions have different climatic and grape-growing conditions.

The wine region of Australie du Sud

SouthAustralia is one of Australia's six states, located (as the name suggests) in the south of the vast island continent. It's the engine room of the Australian wine industry, responsible for about half of the country's total production each year. But there's more to the region than quantity - countless high-quality wines are produced here, most from the region's signature Grape, Shiraz. These include such fine, collectible wines as Penfolds Grange, Henschke Hill of Grace, Torbreck The Laird and d'Arenberg The Dead Arm.

Prosecco secures trademark protection in New Zealand

The agreement formed part of a bilateral trade agreement between the European Union and the Kiwi government. It affords sparkling winemakers in Veneto trademark protection, ensuring that fizz produced in other countries cannot be labelled ‘Prosecco’ in New Zealand. This represents another symbolic victory for Prosecco producers in Italy. In December 2021, the Consorzio di Tutela Prosecco DOC celebrated a similar agreement in China. The Consorzio launched the application for GI protection in Chin ...

Petrus hails trademark ruling with nearly €1.2m compensation

Lawyers for Petrus said Bordeaux’s Court of First Instance partially upheld the Pomerol estate’s claims in a ruling dated 16 May. It’s the latest twist in a long-running battle, which has focused on the marketing of ‘Petrus Lambertini’ wine from Bordeaux. The court ordered the accused parties, including CGM Vins and Direct Chais, to pay €1.18m for harming the Petrus trademark’s reputation, and found they had engaged in ‘parasitic’ acts detrimental to the Petrus name, the Pomerol estate’s lawyers ...
