The wine region of Alsace Grand Cru 'Gloeckelberg'

Grand Cru of Rodern and Saint-Hippolyte in Haut-Rhin (~23 ha at 250–360 m on steep south-south-east slopes, granite terroir with pink Vosges sandstone, 600–700 mm rainfall, quickly warming spring soil promoting early ripening). Pinot Gris as the flagship white (61%) and Gewurztraminer (35%) — opulent profiles with the characteristic finesse of granite, ample ageing potential. Riesling (4%) as a discreet complement; the two lead varieties account for over 95% of declared wines.

The wine region of Alsace

Capital of great French aromatic whites, most often dry and single-varietal. Straight, mineral Riesling (lemon, gunflint), opulent, exuberant Gewurztraminer (lychee, rose, spices), round, smoky Pinot Gris, floral, crisp Muscat, supple Pinot Blanc. Fine, fruity Crémants d'Alsace, exceptional sweet Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles. 15,500 ha at the foot of the Vosges on varied soils, 51 Grands Crus since 1975.

The word of the wine: Fumet
