Crystalline, taut whites with vibrant acidity and aromas of citrus, green apple, white flowers, vineyard peach and mineral/petrol notes with age. Made as dry (Trocken, Alsace), off-dry (Kabinett, Spätlese) and sweet (Auslese, Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese, late harvest). Star of the Moselle, Rheingau, Alsace AOC and Wachau. Also exported to Clare Valley and Finger Lakes.
AVA in north-west Connecticut, temperate climate with short summers, rolling terroir. Chardonnay and Riesling are signature king whites with citrus, green apple, white flowers and a mineral touch, taut acidity. Seyval and Vidal Blanc hybrids as lively cold-hardy whites. Cabernet Franc is the signature king red with raspberry, green pepper and supple tannins.
