Made in blends and as a single variety in Languedoc-Roussillon (IGP Pays d'Oc) and exported massively to China where it has become an emblematic quality signature. Also in Brazil and Argentina. A Cabernet Sauvignon × Grenache cross created in 1961 by Paul Truel in Montpellier.
Brazilian IP in the coldest and highest region of the country (Santa Catarina, around São Joaquim, Bom Retiro and Lages), vineyards between 900 and 1,400 m. Slow maturation promotes balance and finesse. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc lead in whites: taut and mineral with citrus, stone fruits and a floral touch, lively acidity. Pinot Noir is the fine red king with cherries, raspberry and silky tannins.
