Its precise origin is unknown, it has been cultivated for a very long time in northern Italy. It can be found in Switzerland, Australia, Argentina, ... in France it is almost unknown. It should not be confused with the Corvinone, another Italian grape variety. It should be noted that the Corvina is related to the Rondinella and the Refosco dal Peduncolo rosso.

Basilicata, in Southern Italy, is a region whose name rarely appears in wine circles. It is best known for its red wines made from the Aglianico grape, and in particular for the Aglianico del Vulture appellation. It has only four DOCs, which collectively cover only two of every 100 bottles produced here. The remaining 98% is sold under IGT or, more likely, Vino da Tavola.

The authorities have charged Casey Alexander, who lives in the UK, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He is accused of running three companies – Windsor Jones, Charles Winn and Vintage Whisky Casks – which obtained the phone numbers of elderly Americans and cold-called them.
