Also vinified sparkling and widely exported (Sonoma, Margaret River, Casablanca). A Burgundian variety, a cross of Pinot Noir × Gouais Blanc, half-sibling of Aligoté.
Viticultural commune of the Nahe on iron-oxide-rich red rhyolitic soils (Rotenberg, VDP Grosse Lage). Signature Riesling as taut white with citrus, white peach, apricot, white flowers and characteristic mineral-smoky-herbaceous notes from volcanic soils, elegant acidity and precise freshness. Available as Kabinett, Spätlese, dry Grosses Gewächs and noble sweet. Weißburgunder as complement.
