The wine region of Crémant de Limoux is located in the region of Limoux of Languedoc-Roussillon of France. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Antech or the Domaine Gérard Bertrand produce mainly wines sparkling, red and white. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Crémant de Limoux are Chardonnay, Chenin blanc and Pinot noir, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Crémant de Limoux often reveals types of flavors of non oak, red currant or lemon zest and sometimes also flavors of spices, watermelon or black fruit.
In the mouth of Crémant de Limoux is a powerful with a nice vivacity and a fine and pleasant bubble. The small island of Gorgona, just off the coast of Livorno, isn’t your run-of-the-mill viticultural area – its main purpose is to serve as a penal colony. Not just any prisoner can reside on Gorgona, however. Up to 90 incarcerated men live on the island at a time, alongside 17 residents and a handful of police officers. Jean-Guillaume Prats is set to leave the business around four years after being appointed CEO and president of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR Lafite). A DBR Lafite spokesperson said Prats would leave before the end of the year, in order to ‘devote himself to his family business and to consulting’.
