Cradle of Chinese wine (1892) on the Shandong Peninsula by the Yellow Sea, temperate maritime climate compared to Napa Valley. Cabernet Gernischt (local Carménère, 28 %) is the signature red: full-bodied with blackberry, black cherry, bell pepper and a spicy-smoky touch, round tannins.
