Deeply coloured, powerful reds with inky robe (teinturier grape with red flesh) and tight tannins, with intense aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, black plum, spices, leather and balsamic notes. High acidity and fine ageing potential. Often made by the ancestral qvevri method (buried clay jar), it signs the great Georgian reds of Kakheti (Mukuzani, Kvareli, Napareuli). Also in Russia, Ukraine and Australia. Ancient Georgian variety.

Emerging Ukrainian wine region in central Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk oblast along the Dnipro river, black-earth (chernozem) soils, continental climate tempered by the river, small confidential estates. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot as signature reds: structured with blackcurrant, plum, cedar and a herbaceous note. Saperavi dense, Pinot Noir ethereal, Cabernet Franc and Odessa Black as reds. Aromatic Bianca, Kvitkovy and Muscat Ottonel as lively whites.
The word of the wine: Amylic
Aroma reminiscent of banana, candy, and sometimes nail polish, particularly present in primeur wines. The amylic taste is reminiscent of the aromas of industrial confectionery and does not reflect a great expression of terroir.
