Mâcon geographical denomination (2005) in the commune of Azé (84 ha Chardonnay, 15 ha Gamay): Chardonnay whites (615,000 bottles/year) with a golden robe, intense aromas of orchard fruits (peach, apricot, quince) and white acacia blossom. Lively attack with an acidic frame that extends the finish. Gamay in reds and rosés. Vines at 250–440 m altitude on alternating Jurassic limestone and soft marls (150–170 Ma), typical of the Mâconnais.
